Life's a Marathon: Why not run it?

Running the big race.Advance apologies to all our readers, but I couldn't help myself. The 2006 Chicago Marathon is over and yours truly was a part of it all! Congratulations to everyone who finished (and even had the courage to start). The weather was wicked - 35 degrees, snow flurries and 30mph winds, but there's no re-scheduling this one for a sunnier day, I suppose. Don't worry, I won't post my split-times.

Since this was my first marathon, I had no idea what to expect and I had my own pumpkin-patch of self-doubts. However, what I experienced was one of the most profound and beautiful things I've ever had the privilege of going through. Also, I should take a moment to thank the thousands of volunteers who made the day so special for all the runners, and the 1.5 million cheering spectators who gave us the strength to complete the mission. What a day! See everyone next year...
